Tasting:
I've been to Larkmead a number of times (it's one of the few wine clubs I belong to), and so I've tasted their wine in a number of ways. They have a long tasting bar that can comfortably serve 8, and they also have chairs both inside, on their porch, and outside for sit-down tastings. On my first visit, Roberta poured us everything that they had, including some reserves and Club Member only wines (after I used my Jedi mind tricks on her). They make 2 whites (a Sauvignon Blanc and Tocai Fruilano) but they are predominantly a Cab house. Their Cabernet, Firebelle Blend and LMV Salon blend (both Bordeaux-style blends), and Solari Reserve Cabernet are all outstanding.

Success has taken its toll on the tasting experience at Larkmead, unfortunately. The people are still wonderful, the room and the experience are still top notch, but there are few wines to try. With the popularity of their wines, they have moved to an allocation list which currently has a two year wait. As a result, many of their wines are no longer available to try at the winery. On a recent visit, they were not pouring the Firebelle, LMV Salon, or Solari, their three best wines. I'd still recommend signing up for their list to anyone, as I think the quality of their wines exceed the price tag, but this isn't quite the amazing tasting experience it used to be.

Recommended wine: Everything is consistently top notch.
