Tasting:
The Hop Kiln winery and tasting room is situated on the southern end of the Russian River Valley off of Westside Road. It's been a number of years since I last visited Hop Kiln, but I remember the trip for three things: the grounds, the Thousand Flowers, and mustard!

The tasting was complimentary on our last visit. We tasted five wines.  Unfortunately, none of the five was particularly memorable. They did have a large selection of mustards, jams, spreads, etc. that were available for sampling and were quite good. Our host was friendly and helpful, and the building was interesting to be in. They also have a nice, wood-chipped picnic area outside the tasting room as well as picnic tables surrounding the small pond on the property.

This is a nice stop if you're interested in pretty grounds and a friendly staff but don't care too much about finding gems of wines in Sonoma.

Recommended wine:The Thousand Flowers white blend is not a bad choice, but for me the mustards were better than the wines.
