Tasting:
Martinelli Winery is a well-regarded producer of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Russian River Valley. Having tried a very good single vineyard Pinot of theirs before, I was anxious to stop by the winery and see what else they had to offer.

The tasting room at Martinelli features a three-sided tasting bar and a tasting menu offering around half of their wines. For a $5 tasting fee, we got a taste of 2 Chardonnays (the Woolsey Road and the Lolita Ranch), 2 Pinot Noirs (the Bella Vigna and the Zio Tony Ranch), 2 Syrahs (the Red Barn RRV and the Zio Tony Ranch), and a Zinfandel (the Vigneto di Evo). The whites were not memorable, and while both the Pinots and the Syrahs were good, none justified the price tag in my opinion. The woman pouring for us was courteous, but overall this wasn't really worth our stop.

Recommended wine:The Zio Tony Ranch Syrah was my favorite wine of the bunch, but at $75/bottle, I think it was $25-$30 overpriced.
