Tasting:
A friendly face always awaits at Papapietro Perry. In addition to specializing in tongue-twisting names, the winery focuses primarily on Pinot Noir. They make a number of single vineyard Pinots that are mostly light in color but big on flavor. They also produce 2-3 Zinfandels, and they made a Chardonnay for the first time in 2009.

The tasting room is medium-sized, with a copper-topped bar that can comfortably fit up to 12. Tastings typically include 2-3 Pinots and 1-2 Zinfandels.

Recommended wine: The Pinots are all typically very good, and recently I think they have significantly improved their Zinfandels. When they first started, I felt like the Zins were an extra wine made by a Pinot house, but they have been significantly improving to the point where they stand against many other top Russian River Valley Zins.

  1. If you enjoy zin, you may want to sneak across the parking lot while visiting Papapietro Perry and try some Dashe in the Family Winery (or similar name).
